Pricest Decor – Bath Set
After the two industrial revolutions, many handicrafts were replaced by mass production. For a long time in the history of industrial design and architecture, design that was not in the service of function was considered useless decoration or even taboo. The architecture of Antoni Gaudi, which was not finished for a hundred years and was called the most labor-intensive building, was the antithesis of this notion.
In the design of this bathroom set, this taboo is challenging by applying the most iconic decorative elements of Gaudi’s architecture to the most common mass-produced consumer goods in contrast. The bathroom set includes a toothbrush, a trash can and a toilet brush. Among them are the interchangeable plastic toothbrush heads selected from the 1 Euro store, the plastic flip-top lid of the trash can and the plastic toilet brush as representatives of industrial production. On the opposite side, the handle of the toothbrush, the body of the trash can, and the base of the toilet brush were making of ceramic in the art and craft technique. The handle of the toothbrush has an ergonomic hand grip.
